Our History

Tracing our roots to the birth of our democracy

In the lead-up to our first democratic elections, guns had proliferated in the hands of various political factions in the name of “self defence”. A day of amnesty was declared by the new government – allowing anyone to hand in an illegal gun without prosecution – placing gun control firmly on the agenda and sparking the formation of GFSA.
