December, or ‘Dezemba’, is SA’s most exciting time of the year – school holidays, celebrations, family get-togethers and social gatherings are a few things to look forward to.
Yet, during this time, we see an alarming rise in gun-related incidents. Easy access to guns, rising crime rates, heightened alcohol consumption, and domestic conflicts play a huge role, turning good times into tragedy.

Gun Free South Africa (GFSA) is a South African NGO committed to reducing gun violence through public policy advocacy, education, awareness and community mobilisation.
On 16 December GFSA in partnership with CFSF in Mitchell's Plain help raise the voices of children asking police to take guns off our streets.
Instead of sending their wish lists to Santa,Mitchells Plain kids on Monday wrote dozens of letters to the police, begging for an end to violence over the Christmas holidays.
